To him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. - James 4:17

It’s said the richest place on earth is buried beneath our feet. Not because of gold. Not because of oil. Because of potential. The graveyard is filled with books that were never written. Businesses that were never started. Songs that were never sung. Sermons that were never preached. Conversations that were never had. Dreams that were never pursued. Callings that were never answered.

It’s the resting place of:

  • “I meant to.”

  • “I was going to.”

  • “Maybe next year.”

  • “When the kids are older.”

  • “When I have more money.”

  • “When I have more time.”

  • “When I’m ready.”

The problem is that tomorrow has buried more dreams than yesterday ever did. Fear keeps some people from starting. Comfort keeps others from continuing. Excuses keep many from finishing. How many ministries died before they ever lived because someone was afraid of failing? Potential is one of the greatest gifts God gives us, but potential alone has never changed a life.

The servant with one talent didn’t lose it because he lacked ability. He lost it because he buried what he had been given. Don’t let your calling become another gravestone marked…here lies someone who…“Could have.” “Should have.” “Would have.”

Here’s the blunt truth: The graveyard is full of people who planned to obey God…tomorrow.

The Richest Place on Earth

1. What has God called me to do that I’ve been putting off until “the right time”?

2. If my life ended today, what God-given potential would still be buried with me?
