Use What You’ve Got!

Then David said to Saul, ‘Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them… The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.’ - 1 Samuel 17:36-37
David saw the same giant everyone else saw. The difference was his perspective. The soldiers saw Goliath and immediately thought about everything they didn’t have.
“We don’t have anyone big enough.”
“We don’t have anyone strong enough.”
“We don’t have the weapons.”
“We don’t have a chance.”
David never focused on what he lacked. He focused on what God had already done. He remembered the lion. He remembered the bear. He also remembered God’s faithfulness.
And he walked toward the giant with what he already had. No armor. No sword. No military experience. Just a sling, five smooth stones, and a God who had never failed him.
How often do we miss what God is calling us to because we’re obsessed with what we don’t have?
“If I had more money…”
“If I had more education…”
“If I had a bigger church…”
“If I had more followers…”
“If I had more time…”
The greatest victories in Scripture rarely began with people who had everything. They began with people who were willing. Willing to trust. Willing to obey. Willing to move before they had all the answers. Your greatest limitation isn’t your resources. It’s your willingness to trust God with them.
Here’s the blunt truth: Stop staring at what you don’t have. God already knows what He put in your hand.
Use What You’ve Got
1. What excuse have I been using that focuses on what I lack instead of what God has already provided?
2. What “giant” has God been calling me to face with the gifts and opportunities I already have?
